Department of Political Science

Political science improves awareness of ourselves and our place in the political world, including the capacity to improve and change the world around us. Concerned with the theory and practice of politics, faculty in the department help students develop the ability to understand the world from a variety of political, social and cultural perspectives. The discipline prepares students to think independently, develop flexibility and apply critical judgement.

I am a political animal who decided to study political science and become a professor when I was 16. My fields of interest include global governance, international development, democracy and human rights with a geographical focus on the Middle East. I have published several articles, book reviews and a book in her field. I encourage my students to become independent thinkers who are not afraid to challenge authority, question the norms and change the status quo to defend their rights, freedoms and beliefs. My advice to students is "Don't just complain: if you don't like it do something to change it". On a personal note, I am a movie buff and I love Jazz.
